Behavioral services can include testing and/or psychotherapy. |
|
Behavioral services involve the diagnosis of a psychological or emotional condition, the identification of a problem area or issue in a client’s life, and the provision of various treatments to help restore the client to a previous level of functioning or improve current functioning. Behavioral services can also include substance abuse assessments and treatment. The term “psychological” may only be used in reference to services provided by a person licensed as a psychologist or psychological examiner. Not everyone who wants “counseling” or “psychotherapy” needs to undergo formal diagnostic testing, but in some situations it is necessary. Many clients who begin psychotherapy simply undergo an initial “clinical interview” with the therapist which includes taking a careful history from the client, much as a physician does on an initial visit. Our staff can help you determine if testing is needed for your situation.
