Text Box: Don’t trust your mate.
When we begin to distrust our mate, it becomes quite easy to find reasons to continue! If you are spending time checking Blackberries or address books for “clues”, you’re flirting with marital disaster no matter what you find.
Harbor resentment.
If every time you see your mate you’re thinking of something she did or did not do, you’re feeding negative emotions which will ultimately poison the relationship.
Stop having sex.
Whether it’s out of anger or simply neglect, stopping sexual intimacies is a sure-fire way to destroy a relationship. While sex is certainly not the most important aspect of a relationship, it is both an indicator of a relationship’s strength and a tool to maintain emotional closeness.
Don’t spend time together.
The old adage “absence makes the heart grow fonder” doesn’t really hold water. The fact is, not spending time together where you can focus on each other is a recipe for disaster.
Don’t heed the warning signs.
Finally, there are always indications that a relationship is in trouble, but too often people ignore the signs and allow the problems to snowball. Couples therapy is a proven effective intervention if it is utilized in time. There is a point of no return when it comes to relationships, and sticking your head in the sand is a good way to find it!
